Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know before we start.

Eight of the most common questions homeowners ask before signing with Building Dream Spaces. Don't see yours? Call us — we answer honestly, even when the answer is "we're not the right fit."

Which states does Building Dream Spaces serve?

We currently hold active general contractor licenses in 49 states (Alaska pending for 2026) and service both urban and rural markets. Our project managers travel nationally and we maintain regional crews in every major metro. If you have a US ZIP code, we can almost certainly serve you.

How long does a typical renovation take?

Single-room refreshes typically run 2-3 weeks. Multi-room renovations average 6-10 weeks. Whole-home transformations range from 4 to 9 months depending on scope, permits, and material lead times. You'll receive a phased schedule with milestone dates before signing — and we hit them.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Yes — fully. We carry $2 million general liability, worker's compensation on every crew member, and a $50,000 surety bond. License numbers are listed on every contract and available on request before your first consultation. We're also BBB-accredited with an A+ rating since 2012.

Do you offer free consultations and estimates?

Always. Your first 45-minute consultation — in-home or video — is completely free, and so is the written fixed-price proposal that follows within seven business days. We don't charge for design discovery until you sign a construction contract.

What's your payment schedule?

Standard schedule is 25% at contract signing (covers materials ordering), 25% at rough-in completion, 25% at drywall and finish, and 25% at final walkthrough. Larger projects may use monthly draw schedules tied to milestone completion. We never ask for full payment up front — ever.

Can I see examples of your past work?

Absolutely. Our portfolio includes 850+ completed projects across all 50 states, organized by service type, style, and budget range. We can also connect you with past clients in your region for reference calls — most are happy to share their experience and show off their finished homes.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes — every permit, every inspection, every jurisdiction. We pull permits under our license, schedule inspections, and resolve any code corrections at no additional cost. You'll see permit numbers and inspection dates in your project dashboard as they happen.

What happens if I'm not satisfied with the work?

Final payment is never due until you sign off on a 50-point final walkthrough. Anything that doesn't meet spec goes on a punch list and is resolved before final invoice. After move-in, our five-year workmanship warranty covers any defect — one call, we're back, no service fee.
